Cycling: Camps Bay to Chapman’s Peak

After a weekend attending the Cape Town Sixes next to the Greenpoint Stadium, a social cricket tournament which Mike and his friends were participating in, we decided it was time to take the road bikes out for a beautiful Sunday ride.

We started from our home in Camps Bay and decided to go all the way to Chapman’s Peak, right before you get to Noordhoek, and back. The ride was stunning with breathtaking views of the Atlantic coastline and ocean. The weather was sublime for a bike ride, it wasn’t too hot, a bit cloudy and just right.

We cycled up to Llandudno, past Suikerbossie, through Hout Bay, then up and up to Chapman’s Peak. We stopped on top of the mountain for a quick break to absorb the magnificent landscape and inhale the crisp fresh air.

On our way back we thought of stopping at the Hout Bay market (open on weekends, I definitely recommend going there!) but thought again and decided to take on the strenuous hill out of Hout Bay and then cycle all the way back to Camps Bay. (Better to make a physical effort before indulging in yummy food)

Before heading home again we stopped at Kauai and grabbed a nutritious super-food smoothie.

Mike and I are both frothing for our next day off where we can do some more road biking. It was such a blast and we both continued the day with a great feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction.
